From Pro Athlete to Podcast Host

Meet Paxton Ballard

🎙️🚨 NEW PODCAST AVAILABLE 🚨🎙️

As an athlete, if something jazzes you up you want to run right after it right away. Of course you do! You’re a go-getter. You’re a beast. You’re a doer. You’re not just going to sit on the sidelines and watch something happen.

One of the BIGGEST and GREATEST lessons I’ve learned in life is to do that very thing when it makes the most sense.

Just because you want to do something doesn’t mean you should the moment it comes into view.

That’s somewhat of the story with Paxton Ballard and me.

Paxton and I met well over a year ago on LinkedIn. (If you’re a high school athlete there may be a good chance you don’t know what that is, which is totally understandable. It’s a social media platform for professionals).

I don’t remember what brought us together, but we hit it off right away. That’s what happens with athletes meet. There’s an instant bond, mutual respect and understanding that makes first interactions, even when they come out of nowhere, comfortable.

We had great plans to collaborate on some things, but it just didn’t happen. It wasn’t the right time for either of us.

Lo and behold, as we started to ramp up this podcast, Paxton was there. And the rest, as they say, is history.

Paxton is a former pro soccer player with tremendous insights on what it means to be successful while still in the game as well as when it’s time to say goodbye.

If you or someone you know is on the brink of retirement or just hung up your equipment, this is the episode for you!

Some of the highlights you’ll hear:

  • Take what you want, leave the rest (Oh that sounds familiar!)

  • Different uniform, same discipline

  • Your ‘flavors’ will change and that’s OK

  • Take time to process your athletic journey and what it can tell you about what’s next

  • Jump right in and get uncomfortable

Share this episode with someone you know who might benefit from Paxton’s story and message. It speaks directly to the heart of anyone who recently transitioned or is about to transition out of sports.

Transition is inevitable, but it doesn’t have to be impossible (nor do you have to go it alone).
