Oh, go jump in a pool!
Turns out I was wrong ...
Hey there!
Remember when I told you that meditation and breath work didn’t work for me?
Well, I was having a conversation with someone recently that changed my perspective and so, I’m here to say…
I was wrong.
Or, rather, my view has broadened on the topic.
Because this person pointed out that swimming (which is my sport and I LOVE it), is a lot about breathing. And developing a good rhythm. Not unlike meditation and breathwork. And it totally works for me.
Every stroke is about optimizing your breathing. And there’s nothing that soothes my mind like hitting the pool, tuning into the black lane line below me and finding my groove of strokes and breath.
The whole idea of swimming is putting your land-dwelling, air-breathing body into a foreign environment.
I felt it worth bringing this revelation to you and encourage you to go jump in the pool! If you don’t have one in your neighborhood, try asking a friend (especially folks who have apartments or clubhouses in their neighborhoods). Or look for a spot at a community center, local or state park even.
From one land animal to another, I highly recommend it.
Still Learning,
Lauren

BTW: What is it that you love about your sport? Is it worth trying? What about it is good for your mental and emotional well-being? Hit reply and let me know.
