Every athlete has times when they feel like they’ve hit a wall. They’ve done everything right, but things just aren’t going right.

That’s when you remember …

You have options, my friend.

When you open up to the idea of training your mind as one of those options it’s like:

***ahhhhh, choirs singing 8-part harmony*** (I’m pretty sure that’s a cool thing. Fun fact: I know very little to absolutely nothing about music).

It’s so easy to keep going down the path you’ve always gone - go harder at practice, lift more, do it faster. More, more, more.

The answer could actually be: do less.

And it’s most definitely: do it differently.

Try some of these as a part of your success formula:

  1. Mindfulness exercises like journaling and/or meditation (if you have the time or patience, they can make a WICKED combo).

  2. Interrupt negative thoughts with positive ones.

  3. Build in more time for rest - naps, a sauna sesh, or getting out in nature. (Seriously, just sitting outside can do wonders).

Does it sound kind of soft? 100% … thought so too early in my career. Then I tried it when I was out of sport and it worked wonders. Then I started teaching it to student-athletes. It worked so well, I started Performance Reimagined.

The idea is to interrupt the negative pattern you have going on so you can open up new space.

The formula for success is different for every competitor - HS, college, pro, pro in something other than sport. And I’m here to support all of it because absolutely no one goes it alone.
